The device is easy to clean with the brush or by running under water. I also mostly used the higher speed setting for the same reason. I didn't bother using the smaller sized heads because I wanted the pain to be over as quickly as possible, so I can't really speak to those. It's mostly willpower, dedication, and stubborn-ness that got the job done. So I don't think pain tolerance is entirely indicative of whether this will work for you or not. ![]() She has thin hair and a high pain tolerance - many tattoos, even on sensitive areas. With that being said, I let my mom try it on her legs. The rest of my body is entirely doable despite my low pain tolerance. I felt brave again the other day and ran a hot bath, had a drink, and attempted the bikini line. No ingrowns on my underarms so that is a blessing. I ordered an exfoliating glove that I'm hoping will do a better job than my loofa. I do exfoliate and moisturize but it doesn't seem to help. I plucked a bunch of them out but honestly this just irritated my legs and made them super red and bumpy. The hair has been growing in thinner and less densely.Įpilating caused a TON of ingrown hairs on my legs which I'd never experienced with shaving. I can easily do it out of the bath now while watching tv. As others have mentioned, while the first time sucked, it was significantly less painful the following times (armpits still hurt horribly though). This has been kind of ongoing because I'm not sure how to time it and have just been epilating as it grows in. The aftermath: I think I picked a weird time in my hair cycle to epilate because hair was popping up shortly after epilating. The battery, with the epilator having been turned off and on throughout the session, lasted the roughly 2 hours it took me to do all this jazz. ![]() Now (once I rinsed away the blood) they were smooth and light and worth the horrific pain. I could never get a close shave on my underarms so they always looked dark and stubbly. But once it was done I was SO happy with the result. There was bleeding, swearing, and dizziness. It felt like lighting my armpits on fire whilst simultaneously scraping them with sharp knives. It made the earlier epilating seem like a breeze. Holy guacamole this pain was like nothing I had ever experienced. I stood in front of the mirror to do my underarms. I did the upper arm for *science* - I don't have a ton of hair here so it didn't hurt much at all.Īt this point, having done the majority of the surface area of my body, I was feeling brave. This hurt slightly more than the calves and hurt A TON right on the top of my arm beside the crook of my elbow - almost undoable here. I then moved onto my arms where, again, the hair is thick. I found the calves more painful than my thighs, where my hair is much thinner. A big exhale with each go made it doable. I did find the hot bath, loud music, and VERY deep breathing helped. But I'm stubborn and not one to back down so I kept on keeping on. Unless you've experienced this before you can't really know what you're in for. The only thing I can compare the pain to is high-speed tweezing of hundreds of hairs per second which is basically what it's doing. It was truly an experiment to see how much pain my body could handle without passing out. distract your skin from the searing pain? I also used shaving gel as advised by Google. ![]() I washed and exfoliated my legs with a loofa to try to avoid ingrown hairs, and got to work on my calf using the head with the little rollers that are meant to. I put on my noise cancelling headphones and blasted some tunes to both relax me and muffle the sound of the torture device. I preemptively took an ibuprofen and ran a hot bath. My mom told me it was a waste of money because I would be too scared to use it, and proving her wrong was enough motivation to do so. I could not picture myself putting this thing to my skin. Very noisy with sharp blade-looking things spinning around faster than the eye could see. Once charged, I turned it on and was slightly terrified that I had made a giant mistake. Once I got it, I plugged it in to make sure it'd have a good charge since I read reviews saying it can be time consuming to epilate. I ordered it despite my low pain tolerance and seeing reviews of it being called a torture device and declared war on my body hair. I also can't justify the repeated cost of waxing. I'll start by saying I hate shaving - my hair grows back too quickly and I'm too blind to see my legs in the shower without glasses. ![]()
